2. Contact the OC Health Department
You’ll need to register with the Orange County Health Department to operate legally out of a commercial kitchen.

3. Get Your Food Safety Certifications
At least one person on your team must have a Food Manager Certificate, and everyone else working in the kitchen must have a Food Handler Card.
We recommend in-person courses for quick, verifiable certification.

4. Secure Business Liability Insurance
All tenants must carry liability insurance and list our kitchen as “additional insured.”
Your policy must include:
$1,000,000 coverage under “Damages to Rented Premises (Each Occurrence)”
A good policy should cost around $90/month.
